Smile Fuel pump relay

Hi everyone. Bit of advice please. My 03 diesel sometimes cuts out when drlving. Mainly when wife is driving. Had all sorts changed to try and cure it. Including pumps injection pipe. Filters. New ecu. To be honest I needed thesanyway so hasn't been a waste of money. Went out a hour ago. Started car as I pulled away car cut out. Tried to start car it was turning over and had a faint tapping noise coming from the glove box area. Started after 3 or 4 goes. Now starting great again with no tapping noise. Is this the relay. Could this be the reason it can go for weeks running great and then cut out for what seems no reason. And is it why the t4 could not pick it up.thanks dave

If T4 is struggling to connect i'd have that down to wiring and or ECU issues.

The tapping/clicking will be relay or some sorts yes.... not sure what else to suggest.
What have you had replaced exactly (everything)

Has it always done this and any situations that make it more prone i.e cold weather?

Tom, T4 wasn't struggling to connect, and it won't be the ECM as that particular one had just come off a 132500 mile soak test in my ZT

Why not change the fuel pump relay Dave, it is the same as the horn relay...... in fact swap them over.

The fuel pump relay is bottom left, and the horn relay top right

Ahhh right ok, maybe i read the post too quickly!

Fuel pump relay then, as you say swap it over with the horn and see what its like.. if the relay is cutting in and out it'll stop supply to the high pressure pump causing your stall.

P.S Brian, gonna ring you this weekend need an IPK coding (no rush but i'll ring you to have a catch up)

Smile Fuel pump relay

Thanks for your replies. I will swop over tomorrow and see if it cures it. Hopefully it's been this playing up all along. And the good thing is that if it works it has cost me nothing. As my bank account is due a rest from all the money this 75 has took out of it In the last 9 months. After all the dear stuff it will be great to have a cheap fix. I will report back in the next week or so on if its worked dave
