Starter viewed from rear, notice the 2 black sealed off holes? these are the original tie rod (bolts that hold the starter body to the nosecone) holes, I had to drill new ones due to the new rotation of the body, I would presume that MGR's nosecone had the holes relocated so that no other modifications were necessary. The blanked holes at 1 & 7 o'clock show how far the body had to be rotated

Finally, after much frustration. installed
Notice the mounting hole with no bolt in? yeah, you guessed it, couldn't get the standard bolt to fit in here ( I could, but there was no way that a socket or spanner would go on)
As always, adapt & overcome (005's motto) Standard size bolt but with a 10mm head instead of the normal 13mm, did the trick. Now all bolted up and cranking the engine when asked to Best bit is, it cost me nothing!!
I already had the starter, bought in with a job lot of parts. Our local wheel refurbishing company (who incidentally refurbed 005's straights for me) welded the nosecone for me as a favour, and my labour costs me nothing.

Oh yes, by the way, you will see that there is no exhaust manifold. Does it have to be removed to fit the starter? NO, the engine mount does, not the manifold. One of the manifold to downpipe studs sheared off when I tried to undo the nut that had been left on for safekeeping and rusted solidly in place. Wish I'd undone these whilst the engine was sat on the floor and easy to get at. Oh well, we live and learn !!

Just had a thought guys, I am looking for a 5 hole switch panel in black oak, anybody got one or know of one anywhere?

SORTED!! careful use of a Dremel (I love these things) converts a 2 hole into a 5 hole panel. Adapt & overcome Lol

New radiator and new a/c condenser going in, I am not taking any chances!! I have stripped 7 vehicles now, and all of them had the radiators/condensers turning to powder
I think it will be wise to invest in one of Jules new Revotec fan kits as well, I'd better get in touch with him

Just a tip for any of you who decide to fit a new a/c condenser, make sure you keep the little plastic caps that cover the pipe ports, in place until the last minute because moisturised air will enter the drier and cause problems later down the line.

With the greatest of thanks to Greeners, I now have a pair of the elusive 260 lower arms. These are basically the same as standard R75/ZT but they have a hole drilled and milled to accept the anti-roll bar links. It is possible to have standard units modified by an engineering company but this price added to the cost of pattern parts, makes them rather expensive. They are now shown as being available from Rimmers, but again, expensive. Thanks to David, these are genuine MGR units ( from a really low mileage car) and came complete with the rear bushes and anti-roll bar links. Now installed in 005, the list of required parts is nearly complete. I will take some pictures of the installed assemblies and post them a soon as I can.

Exciting day today, turned the key round to crank, she started first time. Runs great and sounds, ooh, just like a V8 should
Won't be long now and think a test drive could be in order
