Number 5 is alive
Hi to all who were watching my last thread on installing a mustang lump into a 75, you may have wondered what I've been up to and why I'd gone quiet? well, a couple of you friendly people put me in touch with a Jolly, Jolly nice man, TONYBUBBLE! thanks to Tony, a mutually beneficial deal was struck and I am now beavering away fully rebuilding 05. To anyone who has seen 05, I know that it looked a bit sorry for itself, but trust me, already you wouldn't think it was the same car 577 (although a tourer) has been chosen as the donor and has already yielded some very nice parts and between this car, Messenger, Tonybubble and SMC's superb stock, I hope to have 05 back on the road very soon. I will try to post pictures of the rebuild, I only have a phone camera though so I hope the images will be viewable

Seem to remember a comment that the existing 75 tunnel for propshaft drive was a boon to the engineers designing the MGR V8, Think another problem still to resolve is which final drive or rear axle you are going to settle on?
I could help with Rover P6V8 parts, assume you have the gearbox? Pity you opened a new thread as original thread had lots of info, missing from this thread Admire your adventureist spirit, bit like building a kit car----but more tricky as yours will be a first! Guess you will need deep pockets! Seem to remember on ebay that a breakers yard in Axminster? Devon was breaking one winter before last------Guess someone lost it on the winter ice on those Devonshire hills Try a search on ebay? |

John now has a proper V8 shell - from the protoype/development car 005. (This car is interesting in the fact that it never really turned a wheel, as it was built and then used as a classroom training vehicle). See here:
As mentioned he also has a written off 260 Tourer, which should provide most of the required parts including the authentic drivetrain. I wish John every success with his venture and really look forward to seeing the results of his efforts.

As a newbie, I've just stumbled across this thread and what a remarkable story!
I don't know many people with the patience or the perseverance to a complete a project like this, so I look forward to seeing the car/meeting you at a meeting, when it's finally on the road! |

Pilsdon I would guess. They had the 260 a long while ago (two years ?) - a black SE on an 07 plate with a big side thump. Still selling the odd left over parts.

yes and I bought the two rear disks from it for £15 each postage free or something like that car had done <20k iirc
certainly hardly any wear on them unlike the ones they replaced! bargain of the century. |
