My first ever go in something with an engine, a basic go kart with a miniature coach body bolted on. I was about 5 years old at the time.

A little bit older and getting closer to the real thing.

At last! Just passed my test in 1973 and sat on the back of my first Cortina - had a few over the years. In those days I could open a bonnet and know what everything underneath it did and how to fix it.

Not surprising really, the cars themselves rotted enough without the added woodworm to contend with as well

What a cool thread.... I cant say i have any exciting photos as my first car was a civic coupe that had a dent in every panel and leaked more fluids then i put in petrol.

Sparked my honda love though..

some of the cars in here are truly epic, shame they dont make things how they used too.
My dad old Lotus Sunbeam that he has, absoute dream to work on, even mid 90's cars and early 00 cars are good, i know what everything does, however give me something after 2009 and i am blown away even in my era of cars as im in my mid mid twenties i wouldnt know where to start.

Shame really, half the fun back then was tinkering with your own car, bigger carbs and larger cams.
Now a simple visit to a computer and you get more power, long gone are the good old days.
