Default New car, what are my niggles...?

Thanks in advance everyone, my newly acquired 190 has a couple of niggly little issues that I'm looking for guidance on rectifying...

She has a whiff of petrol when coming to a stop after being driven, nothing when driving along. Would this be something to do with the huge stainless exhaust? I've googled it and heard of unburnt fuel in the exhaust has, would a change back to standard help...?

On that note, anyone had a cat back exhaust system fitted recently? What am I looking at, ballpark maybe?

And i have no 'kick' at 3000rpm, so am thinking my power vis is defunct. Are they still available from experts on here and if so who can point me in the right direction...?

Thanks all, sure there will be plenty of other random issues arise that I'll need your help to sort!

Do you rev the car when you switch it off? I had a car years ago that would smell of fuel when I switched it off, stopped being silly by stopping reving as I turned the key, and it went away. Another potential issue would be the sensors in the exhaust failing, causing overfuelling

On that note, anyone had a cat back exhaust system fitted recently? What am I looking at, ballpark maybe?

No Idea, but dont bother until you get the unburnt fuel issue sorted, it can only make it worse lol

I think you would be on the right track here, dont know of folk who do them, but they are available. This could also be the cause of your unburned fuel, as you try to push harder whilst driving, and the fuel is not burning fully, and being exhausted. Have you also checked your plugs and the rest of the ignition system?

Thanks all, sure there will be plenty of other random issues arise that I'll need your help to sort!
Getting it to a T4 specialist would be prudent and save a lot of time, guesswork and cut down on the parts spend.

I have a diesel, but those would be my starting points to look at. You are lucky though, unburned petrol smells much nicer than unburned diesel lol.

Check the plumbing under the engine cover for breakage in the crankcase ventilation system - doesn't exactly smell of petrol but unpleasant.

Stocktake is the VIS expert, does a refurbishment, upgrading service that brings the motors up to a standard better than new. Judging by my experience in testing VIS motors the balance motor is more often defective than the power. Anyone with a tester in the OP's area or Toaf?

Regards

I was given a figure of around £300 for a cat back on my V6 75. I imagine it would be similar for the ZT.

If you need a T4 session let me know, I'm only near Cannock, M5 and M6 from Bromsgrove would probably take you about 45 mins to drive here. Can test things like vis motors, fan and do general health checks as well as programming dealer options and even program in a complete key (if you only have the 1)

I'm after an OEM system, the stainless one is just too loud for me!
