Default Massive oil leak

Cdti with 205k auto 2005 gave up Monday with massive pool of engine oil underneath.AA man says it was the gasket where the oil cooler filter sits the garage says it was a blocked breather and because the high pressure the car is scrapped. Any ideas from the members before it goes to scrap.

I would get a second opinion, sounds like the garage don’t want the job/can’t be bothered.
Get the car to someone who knows MGR products well and see what they say.
Most likely to be a gasket or possibly blown out oil seal if the breather is blocked.
Best to check and get a reliable diagnosis before making a decision.

I have removed the bottom cover cleaned it all off then fitted a new oil filter and new oil. Ran it up to mid point on the temp gauge no oil warning light. Can’t see any leakage from any obvious pipes or things spinning whilst underneath it.
Is it possible that it has fixed itself? If a blockage has blown away is it possible that it has re-sealed itself or am I clutching at straws here?

What Dave says above If it has done that many miles and the Pcv filter has never been changed, I bet it is like a black Cotton wheel, and as hard..While you are at it you may as well change the air filter which is in the same area.

Change the PCV - if you fit the vortex type you won't have to worry about it blocking again.

Default Big thanks to everyone back on the road!

Well thanks to the club my beloved cdti has made it to 206,000 miles. Yes a black cotton reel PCV filter to blame ten quid and a couple of hours and she back on the road avoiding the scrappy as was advised by the AA and garages.
So big thanks
