I have to laugh at all these predictions about elecktrickery cars.Just two question I ask myself. (1) where is all the electric going to come from? (2) How are they going to generate it.?Please tell me someone. No fairy stories please. Oh, and by the way, we already have to buy electrickery from the French. So that’s not going to stay the same price in the future is it. Just imagine when everyone goes away for the main holidays in July August. Best of luck you optimistic people. Happy motoring. Ha, ha.

There is not enough infrastructure for today's volume of cars to be all electric. There are no proposals to address this.
The real idea is simple. Significantly less cars. Private transport for the few. Us normal folk will be priced out. Same with air travel. Can't possibly take the family to Spain in the summer, no, but the elites can use a private jet, no questions asked. |

The big question is how governments plan to fund these initiatives?
By increasing taxes in fossil fuels, of course! John |

Not that i smoke but similar to what our govt has done here with cigarettes, the govt has taxed them crazy, $40 aud for a packet!! Their reason is to pay for the hospital bills smokers will cause!! When that kills off smoking, it will be fossil fuel!! |

Where I live the local government gave a 40 million (25 mill pounds) dollar loan for a new grow op to start up while existing long time small businesses are struggling with no help. Then they franchised the retail stores giving the rights to huge corporations. Where does it end? |

Clearly the electricity generation could not cope with everyone driving electric cars today but it is also clear that the move to electric cars will take a long time and cannot believe that 15 years will be sufficient and suspect we can assume from Boris's promise to ban ICE cars production by 2035 means that he has no plans to stand for 4 terms as PM!
Currently there is a huge surplus of electricity generating capacity overnight that could be used to charge vastly more EV than are currently on the road. I would also report that less than 20% of the UK housing stock is flats (or apartments for those speaking French!). Most of these having parking spaces and it would be ridiculously simple for the residents' associations to arrange the installation of charge points.
