polishing mop
is it possible to buy a polishing mop head to fit an angle grinder tool?
I have the type where the disc is secured by a ring nut with two holes in for the locking tool

You can probably get something to fit.... but the speed of the angle grinder is far too fast for a polishing mop. (Unless you can slow your angle grinder down to about 2500/3000rpm max)

I have used medium and soft cutting mops from my local auto paint supplier, these have the same standard thread as any large angle grinder, mine also has speed control from 600 rpm up.
You do get high peripheral speeds with these so you do need to be able to hold the weight of the grinder... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Farecla-6-...item4ae4a9df53 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-PACK-OF-...item54193a0f6c http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VALETING-B...item3aa4371810 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Backing-Pl...item35c5b70371 plenty to choose from

Don't do it Richard, unless you want someone to repaint your panel, second hand DA's are pretty cheap or a basic rotary from Machine Mart but don't go down the angle grinder route ...
If you are really into it then go for something more expensive, lots and lots of advice out there, I am a member here: Detailing World go have a look. |
