Default Got factory fitted Xenons- check your leveling sensors now!

Well today then i was fitted my new front springs i noticed my xenons head light leveling senors arms ball joints were seized up and movement of suspension was benting the lower arm and not adjust headlamps.

Heres the front sensor removed.

The seized ball joint-

The bent lower arm-

After freeing up ball joints, i was still left with a bent arm,so cut up a old screw driver which fitted into the slot on the arm-

It fitted-

Back on car, all oiled and greased up-

Now checked the rear, also all seized up, it easyer to remove with brakets-

The constant movement subjected to this ball joint, its hard to believe they become seized. Its not the first time this has been mentioned on the forums though, and the bent arms have been fabricated in the past by members.

Well worth checking them on a regular basis and applying a bit of lubrication.

Well spotted.

Just buy new bmw parts.
If yours are like mine then the original ball joints have had it. Probably do both sides for £30

On my ZT the arm connected to the sensor has broken, and I might need a complete new sensor unit. I have read that some MINI model uses the same unit, and I found this one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XENON-HEAD...item257472b08e

Does anyone know whether this MINI part would fit and work on my ZT? Looks quite similar and it has the same number printed - 1 093 697.
