how to replace the rear badge on my 2002 MG ZT-
Hello,
I have a question how to replace the rear badge on my 2002 MG ZT-T. I bought a replica rear badge made from thin and flexible plastic. Some people told me I have to remove the tailgate handle assembly (part no. CXB000290LML) in order to replace the badge. Others told me that the badge is glued from outside on the handle, so removing the handle doesn’t help at all. The only way is to brake off the old badge and stick the new from outside to the handle. Can anyone tell me which is the right way to remove the old badge ? I think all of us have the same problem, as all MG badges bleach out over the years. Best regards, Matthias |

Heat with a hairdryer and prise off, carefully, ideally with a plastic tool or a flat blade screwdriver wrapped in tape/cloth

If you try and lever it off from the edge you'll damage the paint...
Drill a small hole in the middle and carefully pries off. Remove any remaining adhesive with a bit of petrol on a cloth. Warm with a hairdryer to ease removal http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...1&postcount=16

If you have something like a bradawl, push into the middle of badge and prize off from the centre!
That's how I replaced Ed's rear badge and it worked a treat! Once removed, clean off the remaining old glue with something like Autoglym Tar and Glue remover! |

If you heat it enough with a hairdryer, even getting your fingernails under it will get it out easy enough but using a plastic tool/old credit card will do the job fine! It's all a case of being careful with it |

I used a butter knife and worked around the edges inwards. No damage at all.

I screwed a self tapper into the badge and pulled it off with a pair of pliers

Thank you very much !!!
Dear all,
thanks a lot for your advice ! It helped me a lot and now the car looks like new. I drilled a whole with a hand brace into the badge. The I lifted it carefully off with a small screwdriver whilst pressing a timber wedge under the edge of the badge. I removed the remaining glue with tar remover and fitted the new badge. Nothing damaged, looks like new. Best regards, Matthias Quote:
