Looking forward to meeting you all, My wife has done all the hardwork on the bookings.
Even going by train, letting the train take the strain.
Don't like leaving the R75 in the hotel carpark for 4 days.

Kev.

I'm going to be there on the Sunday, too. Heading down in my 75, or a friend's one, depending on how things work out!

See you there Colin and Fraser

Andrew Thanks for the detailing link.
One of things I do differently is regarding removing Bird muck!

To. avoid scratching the paint put a soaking dish cloth or rag onto the soiled area leave for 30 mins to an hour. (don't rub but leave to soak)
This softens the dried on much.

It simply wipes off then while hosing it down or pouring with water.
Pressure wash even better if available.

Effortless removal of bird muck without scratching.
Works a treat every time.

Going to keep you on your toes, I'll be visiting on Friday. This will be my first time to this show so I'll be bringing my Dad with me! Look forward to visiting the stand and taking a look at the 4 cars on the stand.

Do you have to be a subscribed 'red' member to use the discount code? or just a forum member?

Looking at the official website it took a while to find what the car park charges are. Eventually found the info (not mentioned on the tickets page). £10 to park when there isn't really an alternative for most people is typical NEC. The show organiser's say it is nothing to do with them and that the NEC keep all of the money. This may be true but other shows are sometimes subsidised to offer reduced parking. Even with the discount it's still £26.50. I know it's a great show but I didn't attend Motorcycle Live this year due to the parking charges. Show organiser's need to realise that they are losing money because of this and get tough with the NEC. I know there aren't many alternatives (and therein lies the problem) but there must be 100s if not 1000s who won't pay the extra £10. It's a shame. I last attended a Classic car show at the NEC in about 1990 when I had a Riley 1.5. Would have been nice to have another look. The biggest Classic bikes shows are not at the NEC, Stafford County showground is one I go to. FREE parking. From memory ticket prices are similar. Stafford involves a 50 mile drive whereas the NEC is just up the road. It's the principle, however, that makes me reluctant to attend the NEC.

Happy for you to delete this post. Don't want to rain on anyone's parade. Just needed to vent.

No Steve, I won't delete your post, all valid points sir. To answer your question, no you don't need to be a red subscribed member to qualify for the club discount, just a registered member with us, as you are

We too have no control or say in the car park charges at the NEC, and as a club, no discount promotion has ever been offered to us to pass on to the membership sadly. The only cheaper alternatives that I can suggest are either car share with other members and split the cost, or arrive by train. Neither are ideal I'll agree but it's all out of our hands, as is the case for all participating clubs at the show.
