I'm going to fit the early black expansion tank, they look better than those later opaque versions. It will suit the rest of the black articles under the bonnet.

I thought of that too, but I've always been under the impression that they have a different pressure rating...???

I wondered that myself. I actually have one to fit, but I've held off for that very reason. Anyone know?

The only difference that I know of is the material in which the two items are constructed from. They were fitted to early V6 models, as well as the other variants.

Early diesel models had a 100 rated cap while other versions were fitted with 140 variant. I would of thought that if the cap was serviceable and in decent working order it shouldn't create a problem.

Secondly, Project Drive could have played a part here, the black version could have been more expensive to produce.

That would make sense. Everything else is the same, so cant really see why they would have a different rating, but I'm sure I read it somewhere.
