Cool On this day.

Two-time Formula One World Champion Graham Hill was killed on this day in 1975, just six months after retiring from motor racing when a Piper Aztec he was piloting crashed at Arkley Golf Club as he attempted to land in thick fog at Elstree aerodrome to the north of London. He was born in Hampstead and was only 46 when he died. He was and still is the only driver to achieve the Triple Crown of Motorsport by winning the Indianapolis 500, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Monaco Grand Prix (although some definitions replace the Monaco Grand Prix with the Formula One World Championship). He and his son Damon were the first father and son to both win the F1 Championship, a feat later matched by Keke and Nico Rosberg.
