Terry sorted the key in about 30 mins like he said, he put a new transponder chip in the key, removed the immobiliser and matched the chip to the immobiliser, so I now have two perfect keys, there was nobody in the whole of Devon or Cornwall that could do it, he confirmed that my immobiliser and ecu were not the original (and I think the BCU has also been changed at some point), I may eventually try to get the whole car sorted so that the VIN codes on all the units are correct, I intend to keep the car so I may as well get it sorted properly but there is no rush for that, but in any case, both keys now work so thanks to Terry

Absoloutely, I am so paranoid about keys having had a totally ruined holiday several years ago, so all is well now, if your immobiliser is the original then its not such a big deal (if a little espensive) but I suspect many of our cars have been fiddled with in the past, so for me its an essential item
