Pre project drive spec on 2003 car
I have a January 2003 car 75 Connie se. It appears to have no project drive bits removed. I.e still has grab handles, boot badge, torpedo badges, original better quality switch gear inside etc. I bought it off the original owner who said he hadn't made any additions to it. I thought from 2001 onwards these bits all started to come off the cars so just wondering what the likely hood of them being original to the car is?

It's entirely possible the car was built earlier and sat unregistered for a while, hence it has the PPD bits.

https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...=Project+drive With your full VIN code you can find out what the actual build date of your car is, which may help explain apparent anomalies. Go to http://www.mg-rover.info/ and click on 'enter your VIN'. David |

Just done the vin check very interesting!
Was made December 20th 2000! Hence why it's got the pre project drive bits still on. Exported to the Netherlands and was resgistered in the U.K. In Jan 2003. In 2004 service history says only 4000 miles so it didn't do many miles between 2000-2004. I wonder if it's possible to find out any history of its first three years abroad? |

Most of the cars we got over here in Australia are a bit like that,
some cars have about 12 months between build dates and registration dates so my wife's 2002 car has all the pre project drive bits in it but has an early build date. |

It happens. Mine was built Aug 2002 yet wasn't registered 'til September 2003.
However you'd never think so by the fact it had done 192,092 miles on it's FIRST MOT in 2006

We have one locally the same. Registered 2004 first on road, built in 2001.
Stunning example in zircon silver. I missed buying the car sadly.
