Just catching up on this thread, I have what I see as nice kit, I'm not a professional by any means more a serious amateur. I have worked hard to afford what I have and with 1 body and 2 lenses I want more kit but being a hobby other things come first. As a hobby I like looking at other people's kit as I'm interested in photography. I have a good friend that is freelance and has 3 pro body's and about 12 lenses all 'L" glass - am I envious..... Absolutely am I jealous, not at all. Good kit doesn't make a good photographer and I miss quite a few shots with my keep rate about 75% although I'm very critical about my own work and I shoot natural light or high iso only. I'm currently doing a photo 52 and struggling as I'm uploading in my opinion sub standard images just to meet the preset theme. Like any hobby cars, photography, AV or audio there will always be diverse opinions with asperations to upgrade but still nice to appreciate

Whoa this thread turned quickly! Let's take it down a notch and get another round of pints in
Jeff, its just the bog standard canon 50mm f1.8 I wanted it as the only lens I had to fit my 650 35mm was the sigma which is not ideal so I ended up not using the 650. The 18-55mm I have is ef-s so digital only. Also the new lens being 52mm means I can use the filters I have with the digital. I have been snapping but with starting a new job yesterday I've had no time to upload anything

These days I seem to mostly do 'holiday photography', far from great stuff. I used to do far more, but since working full time, I've not had the motivation to do much in my normal free time and generally lost my mojo a bit Here's my Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/7978334@N03/page1/ I'll try to post some photos of my camera + lenses when I can.

A mate works freelance and does sports events for newspapers and another mate used to do photo shoots for top shelf magazines. Despite the net, the work is there. What will be your speciality as sports and top shelf does not appeal to some? |

There is top shelf and top shelf phil, as keeny everett used to say mine were in the best possible taste and jeff is brilliant at sports which is really hard to capture and get atmosphere in pic as well.
The all singing and dancing cameras of today are great but not able to compose the pic decide best time of day and which lens/filters to use that comes with experience & its the lens that matters not the electronics imho, but I would say that I grew up when electronic was the wireless we all listened to |
