Mine worked.

Think, in principle, it's a good idea.

Sadly let down by the biomechanical devices owning the phones.

Well, it worked for me. Or didn't, depending on which way you look at it.

Switched off prior to date/time given and on again10 mins. ago. The opening screen format was different plus items that were not apparent before - so that's unauthorised add-ons. Of course, there's no way of knowing why or how those add-ons occurred either yesterday or immediately I opened it today. I'm still waiting for the alarm sounding.....
How do you spell paranoiac?

Go to settings on your phone and type in Emergency alerts and see if you have turned it off, i have mine turned off for Amber alerts, Extreme threats, Severe threats, etc

It's interesting to see, not just on this forum but elsewhere, some considerable apathy as well as concern and anger at this trial. When ever an incident occurs, no matter what it maybe, the public demand information. See the current situation in Sudan. Yet here we have the government trialling a system that could potentially save their lives and some don't want to know.

Folks are strange. Dealing with an incident is the easy part; dealing with the public is a whole different ball game.

"There's nowt so strange as folk", we in Yorkshire have known that for centuries so perhaps this attitude has being going on much longer than we think. It is strange how we human beings change stance depending on events.

Didn't work for me on Orange (now EE of course). But I have a Windows phone, we always get left out nowadays, but it is a far better device than Android, and I wouldn't touch anything from Apple....

Mine went off as planned.

I do however think the implied use for environmental warnings is possibly a bit of a smokescreen for its main purpose so not to panic the public.

I'm more inclined to believe its use is as a replacement to the (long defunct) air raid sirens of old.

In these worrying times of military escalation around the world and nuclear sabre rattling.... I think that this system has been put in place as a warning alert for a possible missile attack. Protect and survive and all that!
Hope I'm wrong and we never have to find out

Me too! If I get "called up" for "Dad's Army" (living on the east coast) I wonder which character I will be!
