Default cdt keeps cutting out when travelling

my 1 week old purchase of a cdt is becoming a pain ! after a few days of non starting (lack of fuel or fuel pumps refused to work) the car now runs ok after starting (still doesn't start first time all the time) but when travelling it will just cut out.

there are no errors on the dash and the diagnostic reader doesn't find any faults. what is strange is that it occurs after going around a corner and slightly applying a bit of power

has anyone else had this issue? could it be a fuel pump issue.

apart from this the car appears to run fine, plenty of power when working!!

Just a thought but can you hear water 'sloshing about' when you go round a corner?

Exclamation

firstly i would check the plenum where the ecu is, if the drains are blocked the ecu gets wet , if you go round a corner the water gets in it ,if you remove the drivers side cover over the wiper motor and shine a touch down in this area you can check this i would do this urgently as the ecu could get damaged , which wil cost atleast 900.00 to put right

The ECU is at the passenger side.
What is your fuel level? Pump problems show up generally with a quarter tank or less.

I think you have fuel pump problems.

ECU faults would probably be far more random.. ..

thanks for the replys, ecu bone dry.

it was low on fuel when i picked it up, and was showing fuel light all week.

i've now put about £20 of fuel in and driven over 50 miles without any problems and the car starts nearly first time although on occassins it will start then stall, but if you restart and apply a few revs it runs ok.

i suspect the rear pump is on its way out as i can hear the front pump making a lot of noise with the ignition on, but can't hear the rear one although i've yet to take the seat out.

i've read a few guides on here on how to replace the pump but wheres the best place to purchase one?

one final question, I'm only getting around 32mpg sitting at around 60mph (its auto) is this right or does the maff sensor require a clean?

Pumps can be obtained from Jules, a member on here..

MPG should be much better than 32 .. I doubt it's the MAF, but unplug it and see what diff that makes..

Clean the EGR, and the PCV and air filter, also tyre check pressures, and check pipework, and the under bonnet filter for fuel leaks..
...

as for PCV I've seen the guide but where do i buy the filter - does it have a bmw part number?

did 16 miles today with cruise set at 60, only managed 32.8mpg guess something isn't right !!! if the tank pump has gone would this alter mpg????
