Hi Ken. The first and most important thing is to check your Plenum chamber is not full of water. If it is give the plenum tubes a good rodding out. You say you cleared some leaves away but if these have found there way into the plenum chamber they can very easily block the drain tubes and worse still flood your ecu. There's a good guide on here if you use the search option..You may know about this already but if you don't I suggest you do it asap to save yourself any major headaches. If it is full from my understanding water can leak into the front passenger side foot well.
I hope this is not the root of your problems but f it is get it drained out straight. away buddy. johnny

I'm assuming you have a sunroof and the drain tubes are short and have come adrift.
There is a couple of how to's on fixing them, and I would suggest you do all 4 and remove the carpet to dry as it can hold a lot of water, The other thing to check is once the carpet is out check the side impact sensors for signs of corrosion.

Could it be that having "re-jointed" the pipe, the pipe into the wheel arch was not cleared, leaving the water to build up in the higher pipe, to then find the weakest point?
