Default Bought another Rover

The other week, I received a phonecall from a fellow with a Rover P6, which he was looking to sell. Anyway, it turned out to be a car I've been after for years; a Rover 3500 Series 1 in April Yellow. As a result, I went up to view it, intending to purchase. Unfortunately the car wasn't quite as good as it was supposed to be, but, a deal was struck, and I drove it home.

It's a 1969 example, in a colour which is particularly elusive, and as such, my perfect spec. It has black leather, which very patinated, but it has a lovely ambience. The V8 burbles in a very subtle manner, and it's just a lovely old car to waft around in. It's amazingly original and unmolested, so drives exactly as a P6 should, it rides very well, and has a very smooth (rebuilt) auto box.

Bodily, it's scruffy, according to some. I prefer the term patina, and the more people whinge, the less likely I am to paint it eventually. I want to keep the car very sound, fully waxoyled, and mechanically perfect, but cosmetics are not top of the list, at the moment.

It's done around 72,000 from new, and I'm inclined to believe that.

However, being a classic car, there are lots and lots of jobs.

As per, with every classic car, it has rubbish tyres, so I'll be sorting out new ones on Monday for it.

I've painted the wheels black this afternoon.

New grille badge, as it fell off on the drive home.

Bit of welding in some usual P6 places, but nothing too scary!

A very thorough service.

Some new brake discs on the front.

Overall, it's just wonderful. It's everything I've wanted, and more. It'll never be sold on.

I'll get some interior and underbonnet photos tomorrow!

To make the car complete you need to fill the hole on the boot lid with the spear tyre. I think the patina look good, shows the car has been used for what it was built for.

I have the badge now for the bootlid, just couldn't find it at the point the photos were taken on the road home!

Paul, feel free to pop in anytime for a look! Seems yellow cars are my thing!

Excellent looking car Fraser, I am very envious. Always fancied owning a p6 v8.
