parking sensor query
hi- have had a problem thats been occurring regularly during this past winter. The parking sensors on the rear of my tourer work intermittently. When selecting reverse they will sound a continous beep until moved out of reverse. Sometimes the continous beep will last for 3-4 seconds then go off. Seems to be worse in cold/wet weather. No water ingress into the car anywhere. I was thinking along the lines of a poor connection somewhere.
Where is the control unit for the reversing sensors located? I will also get under the rear of the car and try and access each individual sensor connector to check/clean. Any suggestions to the best course of action- Thamks |

Sounds like damp, parked my 75 Tourer on grass for 3 days or so, reverse sensors stopped working, moved to hard standing 2 days and all back to normal, suggests damp from grass in wiring/sensors was the problem having not happened before that.

When that fault occured it was a bad connection on the plug of one of the sensors, yes, bumper off and a 'waggle'. You may be able to suss the culprit with the bumper on but easier to change off.

The parking sensor ECU is located behind the offside load area trim. Here it is in a saloon but its roughly in the same place in a tourer. Dave T Last edited by Duotone; 23rd March 2016 at 20:24.. |
