Fuel prices are up before the budget today
On my drive into work this morning at 5am, all 6 of the fuel stations I pass have put their prices up by 3p per litre.
The budget is at 12 noon and it is anticipated he Chancellor will increase fuel duty. If that is not the work of a fuel cartell then I don't know what is!

Most large company's have an MP or two in tow, and way back in the 60/70's when working for a very large retailer 2 packages arrived weeks before the budget, the display cards inside were for use as the budget was announced, no matter what the Chancellor said, these new display boards carried the right information.
Could only have been due to a 'leak' and expect that is the case you quote rather than a conspiracy between oil companies

I thought the Government said they would only increase fuel duty in line with inflation - and inflation is pretty near ZERO at the moment - well that's what the pension fund people are saying now its nearing annual review time ..

Diesel near me is at 105.9 now, oil is cheap as chips but they still put the cost up, rip off Britain rules.

Omg! Y'all need to stop moaning about fuel costs. It's been like this for as long as I've been driving. Up and down pricing is a way of life now. Just be grateful it's not near the £1.50 mark it was some years back.
Unfortunately we don't live in a world where we are looked after in terms of money. Fuel will always be a topic of controversy. When I started driving back in 1998, fuel was way below a £1 a litre, when fuel was at 99p a litre the last few weeks nobody was complaining and yet 99p is still a massive increase on what we paid 10-15 years ago. Fuel will continue to rise and rise and rise. It's about time as a country we got used to that fact and stopped moaning about it. Yes, duty is excessive but then we pay through the nose for everything. Just my 2 pence worth. |

In 1985 I treated myself to a Jaguar XJ6 for my 21st Birthday.
I cried when I filled up BOTH fuel tanks, that's nearly 20 gallons of fuel and the price was £34.
