Default Biro stains on Alcantara - Somethings get lost in translation

Not sure how it happened but I now have three about 2 inch lines of blue biro on my passenger seat.

Any ideas/suggestions most welcome.

This was from an Italian website that came up when I googled it.

Biro stains on alcantara?

If you have stained alcantara with a ball-point pen, tampon with perchloroethylene.

It's basically saying use an absorbent pad (eg kitchen roll) to apply perchloroethylene onto the ink marks. The solvent dissolves the ink allowing you to absorb it with the pad. Maybe easier said than done. In my experience, you'll get a pale ink coloured ring expanding from the mark. With enough treatment with solvent, it will eventully disappear. If you don't have perchloroethylene, try ethyl alcohol (or methylated spirits). Do this at your own risk. I take no responsibility for unsatisfactory results.

Yes - I did realise this - and thanks for the suggestions - I will give it a go .

I have had the "ink coloured ring" issue with biro stains before. I am sure I read somewhere about a small suction device like a miniature carpet cleaner that professionals use to dissolve the ink then suck it away?

Anyone heard or come across similar??

Best to always keep a pack of wipey`s in the glovebox.
Top tip, when putting them away after use, place upside down, that way the top one is always wet.

To test any available solvent, mark some paper with a ball point and dunk it in some solvent to see what dissolves it. The mark should disappear from the paper and dissolve. You'll find not many things will do it. The easiest one for most people is ethanol, but test whatever you have before risking your precious car seats.

Also check out the recommendations on the Internet. They're tried and tested.

Thanks - not sure I will try that as you can wash a shirt easily - the thought of wiffy "off-Milk" smells in the car are not what I want.
