Fitting a new battery
I'm about to fit a new battery to my 75 CDT Tourer . Is this straightforward , or do I risking losing codes / immobiliser stuff or whatever if I just remove the old battery and connect up the new one ?

When I changed my battery it was only left un powered for 10 minutes and everything else was okay! but you may need a radio code

I have a 2001 Connie Tourer with the Alpine Symphony system. I have done a battery change which as Maxxpump says doesn't take long. However, I also did a starter motor repair which requires the battery out for quite a long while - hours in my case, and on both occasions I had no problem with the radio system or immobiliser.

Symphony radio's who dealer coded by request of original owner, as most dealers didn't give that information, vast majority were not coded, Harmony headset was always factory coded.

I'm sure there's a way to disable the code before you disconect the battery
So you don't lose it. But I'd comfirm that with someone more clever than me. Coolcat will now if you pm him he will tell you for sure. |

I've had the batteries disconnected on both the diesel and the V6 for long periods whilst carrying out overhauls without any coding problems on the radio.

If you want to disable the code then do as follows (for which I am indebted to raykay):
To disable the code requirement, with the unit switched off, press and hold the tuning search 'UP' button and switch the unit on, the audio will be muted and it will ask for the code, enter the code, the audio will be restored and the code requirement disabled. To re-enable the code requirement, same procedure as above, 'Code Enabled' will be then be displayed for two seconds.
