Default Have you CCTV

Have you CCTV and do you have problems with loss of signal?
I am not looking for suggestions for a fault, just wondering if you have a problem and what it is.

Yes I have a 4 camera set up and the furthest CCTV camera away from the wi-fi recorder unit drops out of signal at times even though I put one of those wi-fi range extender doodahs near it.

We've got 3 "Blink" cameras that work via wi-fi - they're pretty reliable. I'll be at the Frimley breakfast meet on Sunday, so can give you a demo of the system if you like (it's linked to my 'phone).

thanks for the replies. I use a Lan cable between camera and DVR. Been getting a heck of a lot of video loss detection problems.

tried a different port on DVR, same problem
tried different camera, still same problem but reduced number of failures
tried a different Lan cable, same problem but reduced.

I purchased a crimper and RJ 45 plugs. Replaced the plugs at each end of the second Lan cable that was used above and connected to another camera giving lots of failures. No problems for over 48 hours.

The camera the that was replaced was connected to a different Lan cable and another DVR and ......no problems.

I am still monitoring the situation but it looks like a problem with the RJ45 plugs.

What kind of system do you have?.
Indoor or outdoor, or both?
Ip cameras or HD analogue?

If you have replaced the plugs and still have the problem, I would suspect the cable quality, shielding etc.

I've been thinking about getting one of these door bell /camera /intercom devices to replace the cctv camera that monitors the front door, I didn't know they had their own video recording storage function.

The cctv camera keeps dropping out of Wi-Fi signal as it's the farthest camera away from the recorder so this might be a good option for me
