Personally I'm of the same thinking of Jules, anything that helps to save fellow members from being stung can only be a good thing!

Nephew went if for wheel alignment in his Renault Laguna after we repalced the N/S top strut bearing. Whie the strut was off I clened it all up. If I had removed it I would have power washed the whole underarch down first. Makes it easier with not dried mud etc to work on.

Anyway muppet at Kwik-Fit say they have fitted the wrong strut it won't track! No says the nephew it is the right strut ... No... No no say Muppet! Go back to the garage and have them fit the right one..

So nephew who is getting a little irate says .................... I removed the strut and my uncle fitted the new top bearing and cleaned te strut up and I refitted it. We only had one sturt and that is the one that came off the car .

So muppets says it must be the wrong bearing then

It was then the nephew noticed that aforementioned muppet only had one wheel on the tracking pads. So he says shut up and put the car on the pads properly and get the alignment done!

One muppet fitter colouring up does as suggested and Voila the alignment came in .

When I worked at Kwik-Fit under Tom Farmers ownership said muppet would have been out the door. yes it was a long time ago .

Then you'll remember Kwik-Fit selling own label child seats with own seat belts to anchor the seats in the car? The belt fitted over a keyhole shaped anchor bolt integral with the seat.

They were sold with free fitting service and were very good seats quick to fit/remove and totally safe due to the unique integral belts.

Had a pair fitted to my Peugeot 205 driving school car, the idiot fitter removed all 3 rear OEM belts to fit the child seats ! on complaining was told oem bolts were too short hence unable to accommodate both belts and seats - no amount of discussion or letters to Tom Farmer had any effect.

Looked myself, left off a spacer washer and fitted both seats and belts, the anchor bolts went all the way through the captive nuts with 2 threads
protrusion exactly as with oem belts and all spacers.

On test the examiner may be accompanied by a colleague who sits in the back and seat belt must be provided or test unable to proceed.

Nobody left, they never admitted they were wrong or apologised fior removing oem belts without prior discussion or instruction.

I believe they do a nice range of undertrays if anyone is looking for one.

There's always one rotten egg in the basket, personally I've used Halfords for years without any complaints. The staff are also very helpful anytime I have to ask for something.

Like any major player it only takes one to bring the game into dis repute.

Not at all, this thread is just a tad more than a few weeks old, I would have thought any one in this club would have enough common sense not to go too Halfords after all the problems they have caused our members.

Rev

if you think that, then great

others find it useful so maybe just don't concern yourself with it?
