The new treatment is for benign enlarged prostates and not cancer, although I hope the new technique/procedure could be used to remove early stage tumours. Thank you Chips for posting this up.

Thank you for all the support of encouragement.

I had the letter through for the MRI scan, it's on the 15th August at 2.15pm, it says to allow at least 2hrs for the appointment.

I know they won't tell me the result after the scan and will have to wait to either see my GP or the Consultant but I will ask as to how long the result will take, then will phone my GP that day.

I have been checked for prostate cancer since I was 40 as my late Father had it when he was 40.
I hate to think how many DRE's I have had, not the most pleasant experience but necessary.
The Consultant I saw said my prostate wasn't enlarged.

But the problem I have is I'm on HRT because I don't produce any testosterone and get this via an injection every 9 weeks although I am well overdue at the moment by a further 6 weeks.

At the moment my GP won't allow me to have the injection, eventually it will affect other things.

Good morning Neil,

http://patient.info/

The link provides evidence based medical information and support groups for all conditions. The organisation is used by professionals and patients. It is considered to be one of the most trusted resources of information on the net. Cancer of the Prostate is currently trending. If you get a password from your GP practice, you will be able to read the results of tests and documentation between your GP and the hospital, you can also order prescriptions and make appointments. This NHS scheme is available in England.

I hope this helps
