Default Difficult engaging gear

Hi
It's just started last few days. I've had a little judder over a couple of weeks taking off in first. It goes into first fine but it's not good going into second. First thing this morning it just didn't want to go into second. Third is fine, fourth ok ish and fifth fine. The clutch was all replaced with good quality parts 18 months ago and it's working fine. At the same time I put new OE gearbox oil in.

I don't think it's the gearbox or the clutch, rather I feel as if it's the gear linkages/cables or an engine mount. I've a new dmgrs diesel dogbone mount fitted a year ago, the other engine mounts are original, it's done 93k.

Can anyone point me in the most likely direction, thanks

When was gearbox oil last changed and what spec springs to mind, manual box needs MTF94 not standard gear oil and is advised to be changed every 4 years?

I doubt replacing the oïl improves what you get:

"First thing this morning it just didn't want to go into second"

Engine stopped ,are the gear changes easy ?

The MGR service schedule is 7 years/105K miles, or if you follow Mr Haynes, 6 years/90K.

I bet when you switch the engine off, and put your foot on the clutch it slips in easy, if so i would bleed the clutch

Hi
Will reverse bleed the clutch with a syringe. Do you have to remove the rubber membrane from inside the master cylinder, it's a tazu mk1?

Thanks

It's fixed, the quick release connector on the clutch fluid pipe was fouling the gear linkage mechanism. I have a little bit of clutch fluid coming out of the bleed screw end. It's tight and I haven't stripped the threads. I did bleed it a bit yesterday, any thoughts? Thanks for the help.

Happened to me too ,the only way to sort it i found :
cutting the pipe and fitting
a compression joint to work on the failing bleed nipple ...

Unless,replace the slave !!!!

Good luck

Mike
