Default Diesel electrics quirk

My Tourer which I bought a couple of weeks ago, and like a great deal, occasionally does a couple of odd things.

Either it shows Err where the trip mileage should be, or sometimes P.PPP

However, most of the time it is fine. The car had a new ECU around a year ago, if that means anything. Hopefully nothing to worry about, as turning the car off and on usually gets rid of it, but I wondered if anyone knew why it does this, and what it means?

I've never run a diesel 75 before, and wasn't aware of the fault! Thanks though!
