Therefore my question is; Can I replace the hose with a 8mm ID Silicone hose? Would rather not have to fork out £45 for a piece of rubber hose if I can help it!!

Cheers

Same hose problem on mine some years ago, more I tightened the jubilee clip the faster it leaked, called out AA who replaced from stock on van (braided hose) - be warned to refill strictly in accordance with MGR procedure to avoid air locks - I had HGF in next four miles due to not being bled correctly.

(went on Central Bridge HGF along Millbrook Road )

I bought that very same set as a future replacement Steve, although I've got the normal stat, I thought if anything happens, at least I can swap it all over

That set would be ok for a Non Turbo 1.8 - the 1.8 turbo collant hose set has a different t-piece and some of the smaller hoses are different.

I didn't know the hoses were normally so expensive so have just ordered a set for the 1.8.

Thanks.
