Well I received my claim form to fill in from the council on Friday, typed up a letter today explaining everything in full detail from the council not even telling us the road was even getting done, what the issue is with the car, what I expect them to do to put it right and stating why I hold them negligent, incompetent, failing to communicate and not taking due care, now I do have the invoice stating what was done and how much it cost for the exterior valet which will be attached to the claim form but after asking the guy who done the valet for a quotation form to get it re done is like getting blood from a stone, after numerous attempts at asking him I think I will give up and go elsewhere for one, just goes to show when they have your money they ain't interested! It would just have looked abit better if the company that had just done the car was quoting to do it again...

It may be worth your while getting a few written quotes from reputable firms. Councils have a mindset about not relying just on one quote. Invariably they go for the cheapest, which as we know normally isn't the best option. If you just send one in they may use it as a delaying tactic, especially as it's nearing the end of their financial year and the current budget may be spent.

That's what my plan is later today, to get 2 quotes from separate firms local to me, I thought it may have looked suspicious to them not getting a quote from the original person that done the car, then again I don't suppose it matters

Doubt it would apply to gritters tbh as all drivers are in the same boat on that one, my main complaint here is that due to the councils negligence and lack of communication the road was even getting done my car now has tiny tar spots all over it

Nearest I can get for you of similar situation; repairs and upgrades were being applied to a flyover on A33, the process also involved spraying wet concrete which leached onto the roadway below, many vehicles were 'sprayed with wet concrete' damaging paintwork when it dried.

The contractors were apologetic of course and eventually paid for cleaning/ repairs to all involved.

Delay the wash. They will need to see the damage, removing the evidence will give them wriggle room.
