Default Windows 10 and automatic updates.

I remember reading recently (in social forum I think) that Windows 10 will forceably installed on the back of a security update whether you want it or not.Is this correct?

I have it saved but not installed, and have decided not to install it.

Yesterday I got a message box saying my pc will be upgraded to Windows 10 on March 9th.And if I wished to decline,to click the box at the bottom, which I did.

My question is,will it always ask or at some point just force this update?
How can I prevent the update to 10?

thanks.

Not 100% automatic you still decide upgrade or not as you wish. At present Windows 10 is free, and much faster than earlier versions.

My "new" Win10 keeps telling me my Microsoft OUTLOOK is old and needs updating, I have no intention of buying an updated version, certainly not the annual 365 version!

How do I turn off this reminder?

Cant understand that, I am running Windows 10 with Office 2003 and it's respective Outlook version even though I have the later 2010 discs as I prefer the older version of Office. At no time have I had a similar message though do have trouble with 2003 Office updates not installing always.

The message in the box which appeared yesterday said my pc would be upgraded to Windows 10 on March 9th unless I clicked the decline date at the bottom. So I see this as something which will happen automatically without me actioning it unless I take steps to prevent it.

It was suggested in a recent post on the social forum that Windows 10 will piggy back in with the regular security updates without asking.

In your original post you said update will take place on March 9th unless you ticked to decline, which, you said you had done, my response was in answer to that statement e.g. you declined and update will not now take place.

Go into windows update and turn off automatic updates. You can still get Windows 7 updates, it's just that you have to tell it to update when you want them!

Yes I did decline Windows 10 installation as it gave me a choice.I read on here recently that in future it will install automatically as part of a security update without consulting the user.

I followed a set of instructions similar to this

http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/wi...rever-3614204/

after I reverted back to W7 and have had no problems since.

I tried W10 for a couple of weeks and didn't fancy it.
