Rover 75 head gasket failure
Hi every one. I am a new member. I have owned my Rover 75 1.8 T CLUB SE for a year now and i must say i love the car a lot. The only thing i would say is the car is costing me a fortune in repairs ie
1. Air bag fault light on dash would not reset. Turned out to be Air Bag ECU. Replaced now OK. 2. Front suspension spring off side snapped while parked up. Replaced both springs. 3. While driving home from MOT head gasket failed. In for repair at this very min. I hope this will be the last problem i have for a long while. Previous Rovers. 820i saloon 1990. 827 saloon 1991. Other car that i own now. Ford Explorer 4.0 V6 American 4 x 4. Last edited by deancastle; 2nd November 2013 at 14:44.. Reason: Rovers i have owned. |

Welcome, sorry you are having trouble with your car
If it is on any consolation, the things you list above are just things that pretty much all cars of this vintage suffer from. Just be grateful that it is not a new car, with all that depreciation A few repairs at the garage, is almost certainly less than the hire purchase payments for a newer one |

Make sure they are replacing the head gasket with the uprated one though.
Hope you have loads of happy motoring ahead.

A lot of people think head gasket failure is the kiss of death and scrap their cars.
When I looked into it when I had my K series 1.4 Rover 45, I found good garages that would do the work for between £400-£500 using the uprated gasket kit. (This work included new thermostat and water pump). OK that's a lot of money, but not enough to warrant scrapping a nice car. |

I hope everything goes well as i intend to spend some money on professional spray work come the summer ie bumpers for minor scuffs and stone chips.
