Default Power VIS old MKE 100100 new MKE 100102

As some may know the Power VIS motor has been changed from 100 to 102 in the part number. the old one was around £70 the new one is around £100 (At the time of this post)

Whilst the action is the same there are some changes.

Sorry about clarity of photos just a little dark today.

From the underneath there is a raised section in the shape of an E this appears sit on the arm to the butterflies and may stop the movement of the arm up and down on a worn arm.

The new type VIS is on the right

The inside of the top cover is to all intensive purposes the same

Once inside the same old micro switches a toy motor.

There are very slight differences to the base of the circuit board, the newer one having extra locating holes.

The backward step in my view is the re routing of the printed circuits. On the original one there are no thinner circuits on the POWER VIS (unlike the BALANCE VIS).
On the new one if you can see on the picture there are areas where the printed circuit is very narrow. ( just to the right of the relay on the picture on the right)
This I have found is a weak spot on the BALANCE VIS.
Also relay has been changed for the triple the price smaller one

So that is what your extra cash gets you

Hope this is of some use to some

Nice one Dave! If that extra bit of plastic does hold the armatures in place, maybe we could mod the olders ones so that they can do the same?

Dave,

Hello from France. I'm trying to source a butterfly VIS motor (the one in your pictures), I've tried UKMGPARTS/ Brown & Gammons but they say they're out of stock. Do you know of any suppliers who charge a reasonable amount? I've been to Rimmer Bros. website and they're £100 ish.

Also, you remember that spare VIS motor you tested for us? You said it worked ok! Well I plugged it into the engine wiring loom with out fitting it, started the engine, revved it and the VIS motor worked but appeared not to stop until I increased resistance by pressing my thumb onto the square hole which the power valve drive fits when it stopped - is this normal?

Hope you enjoyed the wine.

Neil.

Hi Neil, if you remember I only test motors off the car with 9v, this is because if you use 12v they can overrun

If you stopped it with the arrow in the arc I pointed out to you then it will be fine.

Power VIS MKE100102 did you add the letter L after the code

Wine is saved for a special occasion at the moment

Yes the "L" denotes a Land Rover Part number and on some items can save you money.
