Default Discuss - VVC Turbo build

This is something i've been toying with for a while and after a discussion in passing at the national meet it seems i'm not alone in these thoughts.

I have been offered a rather fettled VVC head and also available are Jenvey direct to head throttle bodies.

I've been in touch with Z and F Tuning and they have indeed worked on a vvc turbo build but they seemed to feel it wasn't actually worth it overall.

I wondered what other people's thoughts were on the viability of doing this.

The main reason they feel it's not quite suited is that the VVC design as well as throttle bodies are for 7000 rpm and upwards and the turbo efficiency drops off at 6500 rpm so the benefits do not sit in the same power range.
The suggestion was to work more on the turbo side to acheive bigger power and stick with fixed cams.

Thoughts ?

How about using the vvc head with fixed cams?

Piper do a VVC to Non-VVC kit but it's a bit pricey at £850 +VAT.

have seen conversion to solid cams as DVA (Dave Andrews) has some detail about this but doesn't this move away from the benefits of the VVC in the first place ?

looks a good build from the pics and I do know of a couple of others in the past that have been running VVC turbo configs just not sure if it's worth the effort or go traditional bigger turbo (meaning tubular manifold etc) and aftermarket ECU.

Yep, it was Brian I spoke with about this at National meet.

Internet - great for information, but also many differing opinions so it's hard to decide which way to go.

Why not mail Dave Andrews (DVA Power),he would give you a very good idea of what's possible.I'd highly recommend his advice/opinion
