Default MG ZTT cdti wont start

Hi guys,

first post so 'Hello'. My MG ZTT cdti (03) has an intermittent starting problem. After 3 breakdowns (the last one on Sunday)I have replaced the crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor. I have searched on this forum and done the electrical side of the diagnostics, the only one that was different was the HP fuel sensor showed 0.8v when cranking. It started after the last non start breakdown and yesterday morning but it fails to start today. I have tried starting it on easy start and am now at a loss of what to do next. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks

How does the under bonnet fuel pump (to the left of the battery) sound? Is it quiet, or making any odd noises?

Hi, thanks for the reply.

it sounds fine, no odd noises. It looks like the fuel pressure is ok from the 2 pumps as the voltage is about what it says on the 'How to..'. Battery is flat at the moment so wont be able to do any more until tomorrow morning.

Been looking back at the old threads and found one about the ecu, I cannot remember if the oil light was on so will look tomorrow.

thanks

Speak to Seancar in Bexhill, he has a T4 and will pinpoint the fault.

In that case, as Trikey suggests it's probably time for a T4 session.

Hi,
I guess you have done my tests

0.8 volt on the HP sensor is too low .
Certainly a leaky injector .
Please lead the injector leakback test:

Good luck

Thanks for all the replies. I will see how I get on tomorrow then get a T4 diagnostic done.

Are there any relays/fuses that need checking?

Thanks

Might be worth a quick check around the injectors for signs of diesel, mine must have had 2 injectors replaced before i bought it and they were loose, was very difficult to start and when finally started, ran rougher than a Barnsley call girl!
Probably not your problem but hey, worth a look, takes 5 minutes.

Sounds like diesel leak back, but with easy start should still fire up. I have injectors here pumps etc, and if you cant get it running I will t4 it
