Options for replacement are to modify a Mondeo Mk III lower mount, or replace the failing large bush with a Powerflex one. Mondeo second hand around £18, Powerflex bush around £25.

I am, but it hasn't arrived yet Been over a week now, the seller only dispatched it yesterday so should be here by the end of the week - so it should be on my car next week.
I got bored and thought i'd try fitting just the large bush, and then fit the small one later one to see what difference it makes. Last edited by Jakg; 26th July 2012 at 21:39.. |

I've just changed my lower engine mount bush, next day delivery from http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2307574868...84.m1439.l2649
THe guy in Roverlink Widnes said it was just startin to split but when I took it off it looked fine I changed it anyway now, it was easy enought to do, like most jobs the hardest part is gettin the car raised. I've been for a short run in the car and I don't think i can feel any difference. Easy job to do and all done now anyway - Thanks for the great How To

My Girlfriend who's car it is, has just been out in the car and has said the car feels terrible. She can feel it shaking a hell of a lot more, through the accelerator pedal and the steering wheel.
The one we took off looked OK but thought we may as well replace with a new/better one, to get it off we had to hacksaw it. It was a simple job- What could we of done wrong ? Whats the options now ? A 2nd hand Rover one ? Wouldn't a BMW fit ?

No part like this was ever fitted to a BMW as they are all RWD/inline orientation, compared with the transverse fitment of the Rover.
If she really can't live with it, an overpriced second hand part is the only answer. |

We've seen that Harry, We're thinking of just going back to a OEM Rover one, they are about £45 2nd hand on Ebay - We've just got to make sure we buy a good one !
The car was fine with the original, I just thought the Powerflex one would be a good upgrade - certainly not worse ! When we had the ATF changed, the Roverlink mechanic commented on the bush starting to crack.
