Default Crank sensor

Failed after 4 weeks - BMW/Siemens part as well - RAC had to recover me

She came off the Longbridge Line on 20-05-2003

The Silver Machine was the 13th of 160 Rover 75's to come off the production line that day and is the 100th of 527 Starlight Silver Rover 75 2.5 V6 Connoisseur SE Auto saloons listed in the build records produced world wide.

Had not failed yet but It didnt look good.

What was the reason for your last replacement?

Did the guarantee get you a new one ??


If so, did that work OK and it wasn't another component ??

Faulty crank sensor for sure - starter motor ok - fuel pump ok - battery ok - no movement on the speedometer or any RPM. Also RAC man took sensor out and freeze sprayed it - put it back in and the car started - then stalled. Awaiting replacement from Rimmers.

Precautionary - had the car 5 and half years - so swopped out the crank sensor, cam sensor and coolant sensor - so the old adage applies - if its not broken leave well alone

Martin, before you go any further, I suggest the wiring to the CKP is checked without delay.

The turbo models have a propensity to cook the wiring inside the heat resistant sheath where the wiring passes adjacent to the turbocharger.

If left unchecked, this will destroy the ECM.

Thanks Brian - Andy advised me of this when fitting the crank sensor - the protective sheath looked sound - i did source some additional heat resistant sheath so may fit this as a precaution.
