many years ago I owned a vw camper van and my brother asked to borrow it to go from Liverpool to Minehead. I said ok and off he went. I took the drive off awning down to his house later only to find he had packed a short engine, two large tool boxes, ramps, axle stands ,an exhaust and a distributer. there was absolutely no room for his wife and two kids and their luggage.. turns out he had never driven further than Manchester and was worried about being stranded..
oh I also carry a chainsaw, rural area and drive through a couple of wooded areas on a single track lane Last edited by selwol; 25th March 2019 at 12:31.. |

I have changed big ends and a back spring (both carried as spares in the boot) on a Morris Oxford whilst at a campsite in Spain (1970's). The big ends had done the little "rap" on startup for a couple of days prior to leaving but got worse after a thousand mile drive and in the hotter climate!!! The back spring was a stroke of luck (both good and bad).
