Hi Ladies & Gents.
Are we still keeping up our weekly checks, I hope we are ? as the winter starts to come forward at us quite quickly these weekly test checks will be even more important, check those battery posts for tightness maybe add a bit of Vaseline to them, keep the coolant bottle topped up as we tend to use it more this time of year.

keep those headlights clean, check all the lights are working also maybe carry a few spare bulbs etc

A quick bump to remind us all that we need to keep on top of our cars even more so in these coming winter months, check that battery for good connection, and make sure all your fluids are topped up, keep a torch, warm blanket couple bottle of drinking water in the boot along side some chocolate bars, mars or snicker spare boots, gloves hat etc keep safe out there.

Hi Steve , like the idea of the snickers and chocolate in the boot. Also get your collapsing spade in there as well. You never know when we are going to have some snow these days. Also if you have any, keep some old sacks in the boot to put under the wheels . They don’t take up much room.

Default Do those cheeks you know it makes sense.

Yesterday did the weekly check on both the Tourer & the FL2 after checking the air in the tyres and inspecting them for cuts or damage, once a 10 miles run had been taken.

First checked the brake fluid, that was ok.
1

Second the power steering fluid.
2

Lid removed and wiped clean.
3

Re-inserted and checked the reading all fine, check hoses & joints for leaks.
4

Top up washer bottle fluid.
5

Check header tank & seals on the cap.
6

Fluid level ok check surrounding coolant hoses for any red residue.
7

Finally check all the lights and number plates for security.

Same procedure for the FL2
8

9

10

All done for another week but does not hurt to give it a quick eyeball mid week.

Hi Steve. I bet all this checking like us of a certain vintage have got used to, is an anathema to many of the ‘yung’ generation. That’s mainly the difference today, we treat our vehicles for what they are, mechanical. Problem these days, half the time with everything that is fitted to the newer cars is self checking, even tyre pressures, the thought that you have to check anything is lost. My checking day is Sunday morning before I go up the allotment for a few hours hard labour. Keep up the good works Steve and see you at the next nano at Four Ashes, if they are still there.

Excellent 'how to', they say you learn something every day and today I learned that there is an inner wing drain hole !
Did my plenums a couple of weeks ago and all was pretty good.
Will now do the inner wing drain tomorrow.
Thanks for the useful info.

Default Do those weekly checks

Did my usual weekly checks on the rover today as well as the FL2 I like to keep on top of all the fluids etc saves waiting for something to go wrong because of low water/oil etc
