Default Abandoned 75

Seen this tonight in Swallowdale Lane, Hemel Hempstead. Looks like it's got a week left before removal & destruction:

A contemporary SE turbo. Wonder why it's there? Dreaded hgf possibly, certainly looks tidy enough, hardly in an 'abandoned' condition. Guessing some type of catastrophic break down though as it looks like it's been left on a roadside verge.

You could leave a note offering to buy from the scrappy that has the contract to uplift it obo the council no keys.....

I think (think) that cars taken like that have to be crushed (part of punishment)
You would think that local councils have access to last owner and able to contact them...even if it was to pay a fine or cost of destroying it.
Ken.

Morning Ken,

May be different down there but up here the council simply contacts a local scrappy after making efforts to contact the registered keep of the car. The scrappy is permitted to 'dispose' of the car by way of payment for acting on behalf of the council. If its worth selling or parting out then he'll take the best profit. If its an old wreck then crushing is the end result.

It'd be a shame to break a late MKII 75 - looks in fairly good nick to me.

Totally agree, but doesn't look like anything can be done, unless the owner can be traced and approached re selling it.

Seems a shame - So many good cars have been crushed for their scrap value over the past few years because of the high cost of steel.

At least now with the price so low if this one has to be scrapped (All wrong IMO) it is likely to be dismantled and recycled rather than reduced to a crushed cube and shipped to China.

Quite possible a cheap 'runner' gone wrong though a minor problem/ lack of service or knowledge to fix until the inevitable happens, now unnecessarily at end of it's life.
