Exhaust vibration
Anyone noticed a droan from the exhaust when pulling away? Mine does it, it isn't intrusive but just wondered if anyone had found a cure? I had a mate with a 75 and that did it too. It has done it since I've owned it.

What sort of droan? Does your friend also have a 1.8T? If so it may be the turbo's spinning.
On my V6 I've not notice any untoward noises, but often the CD players turned up too much for me to notice! |

No his was a V6, it isn't intrusive but if I could stop it I would. It is just like a drone if you pull away, it doesn't do it if you give it a few more revs.

If it sounds like a resonance around a fixed rpm, it might be the roof cross brace vibrating against the roof skin. Get someone to sit in the back and push against the headlining in various places to see if it can be made to go away. This problem sounds just like an exhaust resonance, but isn't..
