Had a break down today on the A1 in my tourer. There was a sudden loss of power, CEL flashing and exhaust popping. I managed to pull onto a slip road, got out just as the engine cut out, opened the bonnet and saw smoke coming out from under the cover for the ignition components. Got recovered home and discovered one of my new coil packs had melted.
Full set of ignition leads and coil packs now on order from Rimmers. I hope it starts when the parts arrive. |

Make sure the earth wires are connected to the rocker covers, I fear you may have to get in touch with marinabrian for a replacement ecu!!

In the process of fitting new handbrake cables. Got them into the cab, just need the wheels off now for the rest of the job.
Same time I'm fitting an HK loom from MGStephen. Sent him a PM regarding connectors, but may as well ask here as well. image one is about two connectors. I've figured out that the small one with two wires coming from it is for the streering wheel controls. But what is the large black connector for? I've looked as best I could through the glove compartment hole and the steering column hole, but can't see any large connectors that match. image two is the original b/y/g connector. There are only two wires coming from this, are they the ones that run to the steering wheel controls? Thank you.

Today I drove my new to me ZT190 on my work commute, 35km each way and I was happy with how the car ran, particularly in the heavy highway traffic on the way home. I had a Bozo in a BMW tailgating me for quite a while and he finally did an illegal car pass to get ahead of me. No point to this as the traffic in both lanes was heavy as far as you could see. He tried the same trick on the Subaru ahead of me then got stuck behind a truck and we both nipped past him. It made my day seeing him back in my mirrors!
The only issue with the ZT so far seems to be a worn bottom engine mount giving a clunk when I'm not quite careful enough with the clutch. I have one on order and am looking forward to that issue being sorted.

Do you mean the wires that terminate in a plug that clicks into the each coil pack. If so then yes, the plastic protection is in poor condition (brittle due to age) especially around the clips where it runs along the top of the engine. I'll inspect it closer this evening. Hi Trikey Yes there is an earth wire running from the drivers side wing to the rocker cover. |
