Default Drivers window regulator

This with the warmer weather has really got quite bad.

When closing that last bit on the drivers window, the creaking and moaning from inside the door is unreal.

Is the only fix a new regulator, and if so, why would a 2nd hand one last any longer than the ones in the car already?!

What dictates their creaking?

I think I subconsciously tuned it out over the last years, but it really got my attention today.

Possibly something slowly coming loose making the mechanism try to do something it's not designed to do.

PS. Visual inspection needed before it goes BANG>---

the window mech works on a wire system . the wires could be fraid and getting caught in the spool or my be the motor is on its way out. i fitted 2 second hand ones on my older cdt and they worked brill , from e bay about 30 quid for the pair , also try using some good quality silicone spray on the door channels which helps a lot rgds mark

Well considering a new one is in the order of £238, it seems used is the way to go, but I guess its a gamble whether or not it would last much longer.

I wonder if the creaking is from stretched cables.
