Default cant access digital mgg, average speed display

fitted a 2nd hand indicator stalk with a button on the end to access the digital average speed and mpg display but its not working.
Have tested switch on another car and it's ok.

indicators and main beam functions work.

not aware of any fuse that serves this.

does it matter if switch came from a MK1 or MK 2? car it came from was a MK 2 but no idea if it was anywhere before that.

I get in Red a door / bonnet open light as well, it was a question marinabrian asked.

I have looked at my saloons display and I cant see the caravan but that does show the mpg display.

How can I upgrade to high line?

Hi Ian,

The difference between the two is that the low line IPK just has a selection of small fixed icons which light up from behind if a warning / fault is recognised. They don’t give any form of large picture or text info.

The high line IPK has a two colour dot matrix screen which will give a large image containing more detail and text underneath this.

Simple way to check, start the car and then open the drivers door, if you see a small red bonnet & boot indicator top left it’s lowline, if you see a large drawing of the car from above stating that the drivers door specifically is open, it’s high line.

For the trip computer / MPG etc to work, you need a high line IPK.

You can obtain one from another vehicle but it will only work if it has first been flashed back to unused condition or ‘virginised’ by one of the experienced T4 traders on the forum. Your local ex dealer’s won’t be able to do this, but I think cb750Chris in Fareham can, or you can post your IPK off to one of the other traders.

Obviously, you’d need to source the correct unit for donating ie a diesel or petrol and not a V8 instrument pack.

Hope that helps.

Reebs, magic, perfectly clear to me now.
I have been back to silverlake this morning and grabbed the clocks from the same car as I got the indicator stalk from. Of course it may have lots of lines on it but now I know what I'm looking for I can look for other instrument clusters at other scrap yards.

previously when people have mentioned Highline and Low line I thought it was some sat nav gizmo in the centre console.

It never occurred to me the instrument clusters were different.

I'll pm cb750chris as I need my newly fitted cruise control configured, any fault codes cleared and a health check done, although perhaps ignorance is bliss.

appreciate everyone's advice on this topic, thank you
