Not good news Rick, I hope it gets resolved quickly for you. As others have said, inform your insurance but tell them you are claiming again the other party.

Glad you're OK Rick, good advice so far, also check with your insurance if you will need to declare an accident (no fault) each year even if you claim on their insurance and not your own, and ask how it affects premiums. If they turn their nose up at paying cash for your repair, work out if best to go through insurance or go halves with them.....

Her car was loaded up with Jehovah Witnesses, who all jumped out and said I was to blame. She wanted to settle the matter privately, so I asked her for 3 different quotes and in settlement, she decided she wanted the cash instead of having the garage carry out the repairs, £200. Not much in the scheme of things and both of our insurance companies were kept out of it.

Hope you manage to get it sorted without to much aggro. So many idiots on the roads.

At the time it was quite embarrassing and how they went on at me, was like I was the devil. I couldn’t have been doing more than about 5 mph when I bumped her car. Later on when I went to the woman’s house to settle up, I found the front door to her house in Wembley had been kicked in. Clearly she was having issues with someone else. I posted up my story from what can happen if you don’t go through an insurance company

Mate I'm gutted for you, fingers crossed you find a sensible solution here.

The other half's MG3 got written off over Xmas by a double decker bus cutting across three lanes and into the side of her stationary vehicle (traffic lights).

Heart wrenching stuff when you're really into your motors.

Sorry to hear your cars been damaged it's not a nice feeling when it happens.
You are right to worry as most likely the insurance will deem it a total loss but won't be Cat C or D it'll be Cat N I'd expect as the categories changed last year,
To S & N for Structural & Non Structural.

As for paying for repairs out of his pocket he may have though it would be £200 - £300 & will no doubt get a fright when the quote is around £1000 plus to repair.

I'd got the insurance route by claiming off his insurance but you will need to notify your own insurance & they may also ask for an incident number so has it been reported to the police?

How do you go about claiming off the other persons insurance? Do you have to call your own insurance and tell them you want to claim off the other party or do you have to phone their insurance directly?

It was on the grays A13 roundabout mate (the one next to the treacklemine roundabout) no cctv there unfortunately. I'd got off the A13 Westbound and was stopped at the roundabout for a good 10 seconds before he came and plowed into the back of me.

She then tried to make out that her car had done no damage so i was trying to make a false claim and exagerate the cost of repair. They called me and when i explained i had the cctv from work of the accident to back up my claim they paid the money into my account whilst we spoke on the phone, The woman at the insurance company couldn't believe the driver was stupid enough to lose all her no claims and subsequant hike in insurance over my £150 quote.
Because i hadn't involved my insurance company there was no loss of ncb or increase in premium.
Just shows how stupid some people are out there. Some peoples excess is higher than that repair quote. I spend more than that on a pair of tyres.

If she thought that was high she would have fainted if she heard how much my repair is.
