I don't think thats it as it starts and drops down to idle fine, the problem only happens when driving.

Drew in that case it sounds like a worn cable it may be damaged somewhere, and whilst the cable is disconnected turn the butterfly on the throttle body by hand and see what it feels like

Spoken to Rimmer Brothers.

New throttle cable is £12.77 + VAT and Postage.

So think that will be the first thing to try.

I'll report back on this thread until its fixed!

PM replied to Dave, let me know a good time to call.

I've read many posts on all the forums about this happening when the weather gets cold but mine seems to go whenever it feels like it!

It can't be that hard and I'm determined to get it working as it should...

I don't think so, I gave it all a good soaking in carb cleaner last night and it looked nice and clean afterwards.

BUt to be sure i'm going to have a full strip down and rebuild at the end of the month and replace some of the usual suspects at the same time just to be sure!

No haven't got cruise control on it... the car seems to think it has though and drives itself!

Just went out for a drive with a friend, he seemed to think it could be the car burning off the excess fuel?
