If you read the James Taylor book on R40, you will find out that MGR used to use the same picture for both left and right hand drive publications, simply reversing the photo as above, but cunningly, they used number plates that read the same in reverse! Dam clever these Brits. I think I have seen some modern Ford adverts that use the same wheeze.

I see they even put a flag pole behind the rear seats, now that's a thoughtful touch they could have fitted to the saloons.
