Exactly my point Colin, it would appear that everything else is abandoned in pursuit of one goal. From a purely personal point of view, I have had three dental appointments cancelled, my frail and elderly mother who broke her arm last weekend following a fall from her stairlift, was made to wait alone in accident and emergency, among the fallout of the weekend revellers. She had to visit hospital again today, again made to wait alone following a suspected TIA. So forgive me if I do not appear in favour of the ridiculous amount of resources that are being thrown at covid19 at the expense of more "mundane" NHS treatments. It is high time less emphasis was placed on covid, and more care taken in other areas, otherwise the "death toll" attributable to covid will be far greater than that of the virus itself. |

I agree, but government will be judged on its handling of the pandemic.

Breaking news, senior government advisor puts his head in a gas oven. Karen on faceache says if it's good enough for him it's good enough for me.

Visited the bank today to draw some cash for an Ebay item we bought. 'Our' local branch was permanently closed recently so it's now a 6 mile round trip.
Queued for 25 minutes outside then told in no uncertain terms our face masks (standard issue and correctly donned) were insufficient and we were also required by law to use the sanitisation station that everybody else had used. Celia was about to comply with the orders from the harridan on the gate when I stopped her. Politely, I asked the staff member if she could confirm that every note of the money we were about to be given over the counter had been sanitised individually, and by whom. She waved us through. No apology. They have all gone mad. A large chain of cafe's has a 'restaurant' opposite with a hefty smell of burgers and saveloys wafting towards the bank. If you can smell it, it is by definition, in your lungs. They have all gone mad. I read today that with the latest vaccine/test development there will be a secondary component in the jab to detect 'ordinary' flu and that the resultant DNA (really?) will be useful for following up those who failed to volunteer for that jab previously. So, a paramedic is collecting DNA which is being safeguarded by the er, government, for unspecified measures. Just how many laws are being ignored here? They must think we all really have gone mad. Why are there no Anti-Corona-Measures-Examination being organised. I suppose with an acronym like A.C.M.E they might look ridiculous. About as believable as Roadrunner being chased by Wily Coyote. We are now in Disneyland. Folks.
