It's really great to have a thread just about bikes. Maybe the powers that be could make this a permanent feature on the forum.

Bet there are lots of bike/ car owners who would like to share some of their interesting tales of life on two wheels.----

is this the one where you hurt your knee when you try to kick start it and it kicks back

ok its not jap spec but British bikes like yours did not have to change gear every few miles and hour and just pulled.
That's how I like my bikes, grunt to just keep pulling without the need to keep changing gear

my biking list is quite short

Raleigh moped, Honda C70, Honda CB200, loved the next one, Honda CB400/4 F2
and then quite a big jump, Suzuki 1200 Bandit. Perhaps akin to the Kawasaki 900 Z1

At one time I had wanted a Suzuki GS1000

Mr macafee2 sir.

Some Japanese bikes don't need lots of gear changes.

Mine will pull hard from 20mph to 120mph in 6th gear with no problem, getting there in about 15 or so seconds.---( top speed 150mph. )--

It could do more than hurt your knee! In theory a Commando could hold the weight of a 10 stone man without going over compression. Starting it you had to find compression then kick it like you meant it, half hearted efforts were not appreciated. I got it wrong one time and couldn't walk on rough ground for about a week, arch of my foot was badly bruised.

Best biking moment ... 179.6 mph on the R1 going through Vallada about 40 mins from Valencia being chased by my brother in-law (who lives there) on his Aprilia RSV, my cousin on his Ducati 996 and his biker buddy bringing up the rear on a Blade, amazing day as we had been to the Motogp (and watched Rossi fall off on the second corner of the first lap!!) AArrgggghhh. .
Even the local biker plod give you the nod to give it some!
When the GP is on in spain ... nothing else matters, bikes take precedence over anything else on the road.
Great weekend, (apart from the Rossi incident) no-one got hurt, one for the scrap book.

Oooo been there mate, did pretty much the same with an old XL500 with no de-compression lever.
Didn't hurt my foot or ankle but the kick start threw my leg up far enough to clout my knee on the bars, had an amazing bruise for a good couple of weeks.
